Freebie Friday: Deals and freebies for the military

(WTNH) - Next week we'll be celebrating Independence Day. And since many people are booking vacations this time of year, this freebie Friday is for our military! 

We're stretching your dollar with a look at where those who fought for our country can save money.

Military.com released six vacation discounts you may not know are available to you.

Free camping space is one. Participating "Tents for Troops" campgrounds give free or reduced camp space to active duty military ID holders. Check online for locations.

You should also check in with military bases. Many of them have camping areas or even space at popular tourist spots you'd be able to utilize.

The National Parks Service offers military members free "America the Beautiful" passes and disabled veterans get the free access pass. Both offer freebies and discounts at national parks.

And if you haven't checked out "Vet Tix" yet, it's a charity that provides free or discounted tickets to events and concerts to all branches of currently -serving military and veterans.

Taking the family to an amusement park is not usually cheap . Disney and number of other parks across the country offer free or reduced admission for military. You should call any parks you're considering, ahead of time to see if there are any perks.
