Stretch Your Dollar: Amazon Prime Day predictions

(WTNH) - You can call it Christmas in July. In one week, Amazon Prime members will be logging on to find new ways to save money. We're stretching your dollar with a look a some Amazon Prime Day money saving predictions.

There's Black Friday and Cyber Monday to save you money before Christmas, which is why it's fitting have Amazon Prime Day approaching as we unofficially mark 'Christmas in July'.

This year it's extending into a day and a half-long event  starting on July 16th at 3:00 pm.

Quinnipiac University's Professor Emeritus David Cadden says to expect the company to be making deals on its own brands.

"The echo system, the fire tablet, the fire TV cube, the readers, so i think they'll be pushing that and also their own brands. They've greatly expanded in the last year," said Cadden.

But while some find this day to be a great opportunity to buy electronics,  BusinessInsider.com finds its even better to stock up on necessities like paper towels or tooth paste. Stock up on the basics when they go on sale.

It also pays to monitor the deals at different times of the day.

"They have a tendency to have lightning pop-up deals that are just there and disappear as soon as the inventory goes out," said Cadden.

There are also some deals you can check out now, like if you reload a gift card balance with $100 right now they'll add an extra $10 on.

You can also try Amazon Music right now , 4 months for $0.99 cents.
