Back to school time is a time of transition for everyone whether you’re a parent, teacher or student.
We are stretching your dollar with some free or inexpensive options you may want to explore if you need help before or after school.
One place to look is local nonprofits in your community! You shouldn’t let finances deter you from picking up the phone.
We talked to a spokesperson with the YMCA in Wallingford who says even families struggling with money will find after-school activities that work into their budget.
There is financial assistance programs and opportunities to save money on different activities.
“For instance, at the Wallingford Y, we have programs where we can take your child out of their daily childcare schedule and provide things like swimming lessons. So if that’s something you don’t have time for or you’re trying to build into your child’s experience, but can’t necessarily afford that, there are discounts available the more you bundle together,” said Eric Hutchinson, Wallingford YMCA.
Another money-saver is if you have more than one child, many clubs will offer a discount when they both enroll in activities.
