It’s no secret that the cost to fly is well, high with more fees and less legroom. But experts say there are ways for the passenger to save.
ThisIsInsider.com talked to the CEO of Cheap Air who says that the sweet spot to booking is precisely 54 days out, on the dot so consider that.
Here’s the formula: Cheap Air analyzed 921 million fares and found that between 320 and 106 days out, prices remain static. They start to drop around 105 days out.
They hit their lowest point around 54 days days out, then start ticking back up.
Then the 20 day mark is when they drop dramatically. Problem is that it’s a gamble to wait that long but it’s a win for last-minute travelers.
A tip all travelers can use is to pick up the phone!
Many airlines give discounts to seniors, veterans and other special groups. But most only offer it over the phone. You may find you get a better price when you book it talking directly to a person.
Here’s the deal about Tuesdays. You may have also heard Tuesday is the best day to book.
Airlines release their sales thay day and then they all compete with one another. It’s rare you’ll actually win going this route alone but hey, anythings worth a shot!
