We are coming up on the busiest travel time of the year! If you’re going to be taking to the skies this week or in the near future, we are stretching your dollar with the steps to save yourself some money.
We talked to Amanda Norcross, an expert at airfarewatchdog.com, who say if you’re going away for the holidays or will be gifting a trip to someone, you want to sign up for airfare alerts.
That lets you look at different routes and cities that you’re considering and track when the flight prices change so you can jump on it when it’s a good deal.
She says if you’re open to ideas and you want to stretch your dollar the furthest, you may consider a trip overseas.
“International airfares are actually the better deal this time of year. At Airfare Watchdog we’ve seen roundtrip flights that are under $500 this time of year. So often times, that’s the better deal,” said Norcross.
She adds there’s no perfect day to travel around the holidays, unless you fly on the holidays themselves.
If you still need to book a flight for Thanksgiving, keep your eye on airline social media pages. It’s getting late but that’s a good place to find pop up deals.
