Stretch Your Dollar: Super Bowl spending

Stretch Your Dollar

How much do you plan to spend on your Super Bowl party? The big game is not only a diet buster, it can also be a budget buster if you’re not careful.

We are stretching your dollar with a look at where all the money is going!

Even if you watch from home, the big game will cost you! That’s according to a new survey by the National Retail Federation.

The survey found the average person will spend $81.30. The biggest spenders will be people between 35 to 44 years old.

The survey found 182.5 million people are expected to watch the New England Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Among those who plan to watch the game, 7 percent will buy a new TV! Ten percent say they’ll purchase team apparel and accessories and 79 percent plan to buy food and drinks.

Wherever you fall, here are four ways to save:

Grab those grocery store flyers on Thursday so you can compare prices before planning out your menu.

Organize a potluck so you’re not carrying all the costs.

Save money on alcohol and snack when you buy in bulk at Sam’s Club or Costco.

Break out the slow cooker. It’s easy and there’s likely to be leftovers for lunches next week.

Enjoy the game while being mindful about your money.
