(WTNH)– There’s so much that goes into planning a wedding like the venue, the flowers and of course the dress. But, you also have to consider the budget. We are stretching your dollar with the wedding trends that add up and what moves you can make to save.
Planning a wedding is going to cost you. According to wedding website, The Knot, the average price of a wedding last year was more than $35,000.
But as the cost of weddings goes up, the guest list is going down. Instead, The Knot says couples are opting to spend money on one-of a-kind experience like an unexpected band, an Insta-worthy venue or foodie caliber eats.
Still there are ways to trim costs without trimming the experience. Experts say simply opting for any day other than Saturday will save you money.
Pick a date near the end of off-season. You may score great weather with an even better price tag.
Choose a venue that doesn’t require you use their vendors. You have more control over cost that way.
Fake the wedding cake! Have a baker make a fake cardboard cake with real at the top for cutting. Then serve your guests a less expensive sheet cake that’s cut in the back.
And if you’re going to be swiping the plastic, look now for a credit card with good cash back bonuses or other perks that interest you. After all, you want to spend the first few months of marriage organizing pictures of the day, not a stack of credit card bills.
