(WTNH)– It’s a debate that sparked mass debate and demonstrations outside the State Capitol.

Connecticut is joining only a handful of states. Maine, New York, Mississippi, West Virginia and California. So what will happen to students who don’t get their shots? We’ll explain in the video above.

If they can’t enroll in school where will they learn and does the state have an obligation to educate them? News 8 Chief Political Correspondent Jodi Latina has more in the video above.

And this heated debate comes amid the COVID pandemic and the state urging people to get vaccinated.

This weekend, the governor’s first round of rollbacks went into effect as more people got that shot in the arm. Restaurant curfew was moved from 11 p.m. to midnight, outdoor restrictions will be lifted, alcohol can be served without food, and there will be no table size limit. We have more in the video above.
