News 8’s Sarah Cody first told the story of Chris O’Brien, the competitive swimmer from Trumbull, who’s life changed forever after an accident on Block Island. Chris became paralyzed after he dove into the water, his head hitting a sandbar.

Chris was recently able to walk with the help of stimuli at Kennedy Krieger Institute. He credits his family and best friend Kevin for helping him through his progress.

Chris recently got accepted to George Washington University for graduate school.

The book “We’re Good” by author Meg McGovern is telling Chris’s story of determination and hope, inspiring others around the state.

The book is available for purchase on Amazon.
