What's Right with Schools: Mercy High School - AP Capstone Project

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) - Trust and teamwork are on display at Mercy High School in Middletown

These are values that serve the students well as they work on their capstone projects.

"Trust. We really need to depend on each other. We can’t do this alone,” said Grace Higgins.

The students are improving their studies while learning about effective communication.

“We’re not just sitting in a classroom all the time, we get to interact with each other in a way that’s fun and gets us really engaged,” said Holly Lewis.

Peer to peer feedback happens all along the way.

This year, the focus is on women’s education across the world.

It's constructive criticism from each other that drives their project in the right direction.

“Building our own confidence in a group setting helps us to have confidence when we have to work alone,” said Anna Bonaiuto.

The students are learning some vital life skills along the way.

“That’s a big part of this class, is getting ready beyond and past high school,” said Emma Kief.
