Since the school shooting in Parkland Florida last month there has been much reporting about Connecticut’s ban on so-called “assault rifles.”  But the laws passed in the aftermath of the shooting at the Sandy Hook school five years ago did a lot more, especially in the area of school security and it’s still happening.

Lawyers for the parents of two children killed in the Newtown school shooting are demanding to see evidence that two teachers fatally shot in the massacre had access to keys that could have been used to lock the doors of their classrooms.

Congress blocks rule barring mentally impaired from guns

The Republican-led Senate voted Wednesday to block an Obama-era regulation that would prevent an estimated 75,000 people with mental disorders from being able to purchase a firearm.
