899-win North Haven coach says he can’t choose his favorite moment

The wait for 900 career wins is still on hold for North Haven baseball coach Bob DeMayo. His Indians were washed out of the SCC tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday.

All of the games were postponed to Wednesday.

Over his 60 year coaching career, DeMayo has plenty of experience dealing with the elements. 899 wins is impressive, and five of them have come in state championship games.

But does he have a favorite win, or a favorite team?

“No,” he said. “There are many games that stand out, but you know, ,they always ask me, is there one team or one year and I really, there’s just been great wins so I wouldn’t want to pick, those guys wouldn’t’ talk to me anymore if I did.”

North Haven faces Amity in the SCC quarterfinals on Wednesday, then plays their final regular season game at 7:30 against North Branford.
