Age and experience: A story for both teams ahead of the big game

When the New England and Los Angeles football teams met in 2002 for the big game, no one would have predicted it was the start of arguably the NFL’s greatest dynasty. 17 years later, the two franchises meet again. The 5-time champs with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick against the young and hungry L.A. combo of Sean McVay and Jared Goff.

There was a time, before 5 big game wins, when Tom Brady was a young up and coming quarterback looking for his first ring. It sounds similar to another Bay Area kid in 2019 – Jared Goff.

“I think it’s a cool storyline. We both have roots there, and it’s a fun thing know we know some of the same people.”

There was also a time before hoodies were a fashion statement, when Bill Belichick was ring-less, but a so-called coaching genius – sounds like modern day Sean McVay.

“Sean as head coach obviously, he’s responsible for overall team, doing a great job, good football team in all three phases.”

Belichick was 49 when he won his first big game. It’s incredible to think McVay can win his first at 33-years old.
