Fairfield Prep wins the boy’s hockey state championship

There are some dominant high school programs in the state known for winning, such as
Ansonia Football, Amity Baseball, Hillhouse basketball, and Fairfield Prep hockey.

Prep 17 and 4 in state championship games this season.

Matt Sather’s Jesuits was looking to add an 18th title by going back to back in the D1 title game.
Their fan section was ready to roll in this one too.

Notre Dame of West Haven trying to ruin those plans.
Larry Veira has done a great job with the young Green Knights this season.

Took a while for this game to get on track.
When it did, the Jesuits took control.
Late in the first, Thomas Quinn gets the scoring going.

Still in the first, 46 seconds to play, Lucas Baksy carries up the far side.
Easy does it, Prep pushes the lead to two goals.

Meanwhile, in Preps net was Jake Walker.
Both teams working to put the puck in.
Walker made 22 saves.

Early in the 2nd, Fairfield Prep makes it a 3 goal game.

Connor Boyle throws it on net, Jack Esse jumps on the rebound. 3-0

The Knights kept attacking, and finally break through.
Rory Andriole, with a clean look, pulls his team within two.
It’s a 3-1 game.

Seconds later, Mason Whitney re-establishes the 3 goal cushion for Prep.

Jesuits countdown to the schools 18th state title.
5-2 was the final score.

After a slow start to the regular season this feels good.
