Son of former big leaguer making strides with Hartford Yard Goats


While Tyler Nevin is crushing baseballs in AA, his dad, Phil, is working with some of the biggest stars in baseball.

Whether it’s hitting ground balls or talking about the game around the cage life in pinstripes is pretty good.

But when he’s not on the field with the Yankees, he’s usually watching his son on the internet playing for the Yard Goats.

On an off day last month, Phil was able to catch Tyler in the Yard Goats home opener. 

After a slow start with his new team, Tyler has picked it up at the plate and his dad says he has all the tools.

Phil turned 48 earlier this year and still looks like he could play.

Tyler will turn 22 later this month, and the dream is to get to the big leagues and be just like his dad.
