Three CT college baseball teams headed to Regional tournaments Friday

Pretty amazing week for three college baseball teams in our state. Quinnipiac, Central CT and UConn are playing in the Regionals Friday.

1. Jim Pender’s Huskies will play Nebraska in the Oklahoma City regional..  UConn is the two seed, Cornhuskers the three seed.

Making it to the tournament for the sixth time in the last 9 years, the Huskies have big expectations.

Huskies and Nebraska will play at 1:00 Friday afternoon.

2. Quinnipiac is in the Greenville Regional in North Carolina. The Bobcats will play the host, East Carolina.

Bobcats will have their hands full; The Pirates are ranked tenth in the country.

This is the second time that QU has made the NCAA tournament, and they will enjoy every second of it. The pressure of just getting there was hard enough.

First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. Friday.

3. The Central CT baseball team is down in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The Blue Devils won 30 games this season and are now playing in their sixth NCAA Tournament and second in the last three years.

Head Coach Charlie Hickey has won more than 600 games, but he knows this weekend is gonna be tough.

The NEC Champs will play Arkansas at 2:00 p.m. Friday.

All the regionals are double elimination tournaments. All games are on ESPN 3.
