UConn basketball players hold golf fundraiser to help community centers

The UConn basketball family is a tight bunch. Years after they finished playing, they can still count on each other like teammates.

Today, a handful of former Huskies held the first New England Supreme Golf fundraiser– for community centers of Bridgeport– which are struggling.

Some of the home grown guys from Bridgeport, like Chris Smith, the all-time leading scorer at UConn, lending their time to the event started by Marcus Cox.

“I wanted to be an outlet for them. I’m taking my power and using it for my city,” Cox said.

“This is something that I care about. I really care about the school, the people involved with this tournament, and any time they give me a call, I’m gonna be here,” said Smith.

They’re hoping this tournament takes off, and they can do it again next year.
