UConn’s coaches have been crisscrossing the state this week, meeting with fans and trying to drum up support for their programs.

The second annual Coaches Road Show made a stop Thursday morning at Dunkin Donuts Park in Hartford, where about 100 fans mingled with basketball coaches Dan Hurley and Geno Auriemma, football coach Randy Edsall and others.

The coaches also have made appearances this week in Mystic, Branford, Waterbury and Torrington and have another planned in Stamford.

Auriemma says the days when he could stay on campus and just expect every game to sell out are long gone.

He says UConn, which had $40 million deficit in its athletic budget last year, must find new ways to engage the fan base so it will support the school, win or lose.
