Handful of players with Connecticut connections selected in MLB Draft on Tuesday

George Springer, Matt Barnes, Nick Ahmed, the list of UConn baseball players drafted and playing in the big leagues is an impressive one.

On Tuesday afternoon, closer Jake Wallace became the latest Husky to be drafted by a major league baseball team.

The lights out righty was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the third round with the 100th overall pick.

Shortstop Anthony Prato was also drafted on Tuesday by the Minnesota Twins.

The Yale baseball team has a MLB Draft pick too.

Former Fairfield Prep star Simon Whiteman was a ninth round selection of the San Francisco Giants.

Whiteman was a Rhodes Scholarship nominee with the Bulldogs.

Former Sheehan of Wallingford star Zach Hart, who played college ball at Franklin Pierce, was taken in the 10th round by the Cleveland Indians.

The college guys were not the only ones drafted on Tuesday.

St Joe’s of Trumbull center fielder Stephen Paolini was a fifth round pick of the Atlanta Braves.
