UConn hosts Wichita in a 3 game series at Dunkin’ Donuts Park

UConn Huskies

A big weekend for the UConn baseball team; the Huskies host Wichita State in a 3 game series.

All games are being played at Dunkin Donuts Park in Harford.

CT head coach Jim Penders and his team go into the series with the Shockers with a 27-18 record.

Penders is closing in on the program’s all-time head coach.

His 552 career wins are 4 shy of tying the great Andy Baylock, a man he played for and later became and assistant under.

Penders loves being a Husky. Penders is in his 16th season as head coach.

As for the game, it was a chilly night at Dunkin Donuts park for game 1 on Friday night, but we still had some hearty fans for game one of a three game series with Wichita State.

Bottom of the 3rd, Michael Woodworth the base hit to center John Toppa will come in to score 1-0 Huskies.

They are not done; still in the 3rd,Tyler Fedko hit it up the middle and it gets by the centerfielder. Anthony Prato scores and Woodworth will follow. 3-0 Uconn.

4-0 UConn is the final score.

UConn and Wichita State play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 12:30 p.m.
