Yale hockey holds special ceremony for Milford teen

What a special night for a Milford teenager that’s been battling some serious health issues. He’s now a member of the Yale hockey team.

17-year-old Jakob Smith was invited to Ingalls Rink for a special ceremony with the entire men’s hockey team, partnering with the nonprofit Team Impact organization.

Smith signed on the dotted line to become an official member of the team. It’s been a tough road for Smith—diagnosed in 2011 with a serious Gastrointestinal disorder—-life has not been easy.

On he Bulldogs welcomed him to their locker room, shared stories and they even gave him his own stick.

It was quite a night for Jakob and his family.
