(WTNH) - Quiet weather through tomorrow before two systems bring active weather back to Connecticut. Number one will send some light snow our way for the Friday AM commute with a change to rain at the shoreline. Clearing and milder for Friday afternoon. Dry during the "day" Saturday with system number 2 delivering a more potent punch Saturday Night through Sunday Night. It looks like snow arrives before midnight Saturday changing to an icy mix by dawn Sunday. Freezing rain with an icestorm possible during the day with most areas stay at or under 32°. Ice going back to snow before ending by evening with a rapid freeze-up. Wind is also a concern with a bitter chill to follow on MLK Day.
Today: A frosty start...you may have to defrost the windshield. Dry weather today with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the 30s to near 40° with a cold wind. Dress for a 30° wind chill!
Tonight: A round of evening clouds with a slight flurry chance then clearing and colder. Lows in the teens to lower twenties.
Thursday: Sun & clouds with colder temperatures. Highs in the upper 20s to low 30s. Snow developing after midnight Thursday night.
Friday: A few school delays possible. Snow/mix for the AM commute. Coating to 1" for much of CT with 1" to 2" for NW CT. Clearing & breezy with highs in the 30s to low 40s during the afternoon.
Saturday: AM sun with cloudy skies for the afternoon. Snow arriving at night. Highs in the 20s and 30s.
Sunday: Stormy with a colder/icy scenario statewide! Snow over to ice statewide. The ice will go to rain at the shoreline before going back to ice and snow during the afternoon with a flash freeze. The ice will likely linger for interior & western Connecticut through much of the day with a big impact to travel and powerlines. Highs ranging from 20s north to lower 40s southeast! Falling rapidly during the afternoon with a fast freeze-up! Some 50mph gusts too!
Monday MLK Day: An icy start from everything freezing up with a sugar coating of snow on top. Clearing, windy and very cold. Temps mostly in the single digits/teens. Wind chill below zero!!
Tuesday: A very cold start. Dry and cold with highs in the teens and twenties.
