(WTNH) – Forty years ago this month, history was made in Connecticut that reverberated across the nation. In 1981, voters in Hartford elected a Black man to be mayor, Thirman Milner.

A few years later, New York, Chicago, and others followed Hartford’s lead.

Dennis House caught up with the trailblazer who is still going strong at 88.
