Car crash, water main break closes Fairfield Road in Greenwich

Fairfield Road in Greenwich is closed between Old Church Road and Hillside Road due to a motor vehicle crash, according to the Greenwich Police Department. 

Greenwich police say at approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday, a vehicle struck and knocked down a utility pole. While replacing the pole, a water main was struck and broke.

Officials are currently on scene and working to repair the water main and replace the pole. Fairfield Road between Old Church Road and Hillside Road is expected to be closed throughout the day.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and to expect delays.
