CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTNH) — CT Dept. of Transportation reported a box truck crash on Interstate-84 East between Exits 28-30 Monday morning.

There were delays for several hours, but the roadway is now fully open.

Connecticut State Police said troopers were called to the crash around 11 p.m. Sunday.

A truck with two occupants was traveling in the center lane of I-84 east, with a Honda Accord with three occupants traveling behind it. For an unknown reason, troopers said the Honda struck the back of the truck. The strike caused the truck driver to lose control and strike the metal rail on the left side and overturn. The Honda left the roadway on the right side and struck a signpost.

The passenger of the truck sustained a minor injury and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The 20-year-old Honda driver was transported to the hospital with a suspected serious injury, and the two passengers were also sent to the hospital with suspected minor injuries.

Any witnesses of the collision are asked to contact TFC John Wilson #1060, at Troop H, at 860-534-1098, or through email at john.wilson@ct.gov.
