I-84 westbound reopens in East Hartford after crash causes delays


EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH)–  I-84 westbound has reopened in East Hartford after a crash closed part of the highway on Wednesday morning.

The Department of Transportation reports that a two vehicle accident closed the three left lanes of I-84 westbound between exits 54 and 51. The crash was reported just before 6 a.m. and has since been cleared.

State Police say there were minor injuries reported.

There were heavy delays in the area due to the closure. Drivers were urged to use exit 54 to Founders Bridge as an alternate into downtown Hartford.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
