The fire was first reported around 7:10 a.m. on I-91 southbound between exits 14 and 13. The driver successfully pulled the car off the main roadway and escaped the vehicle without injury.
Report-It video sent in by Darrell Smith showed large flames coming from the engine area as firefighters arrived on scene.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No one was hurt.
All lanes of Interstate 91 southbound were reopened by 8:30 a.m. Fire officials are conducting their initial investigation to determine what may have sparked the fire.
