Jackknifed tanker truck closed part of I-91 southbound in Wallingford, road has reopened

A crash involving a jackknifed tanker truck has closed part of Interstate 91 southbound in Wallingford on Tuesday.

The Department of Transportation said two left lanes were shut down on I-91 southbound between exits 17 and 14 due to a truck accident that was reported at 12:15 p.m. The accident has since been cleared.

According to the DOT, traffic was congested for about 3.6 miles on the southbound side. There was also a 3 mile delay on the northbound side on that part of the highway. 

Emergency crews responded to the scene but there is no word on any injuries at this time.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
