SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car on Queen Street Monday night.

The crash occurred at approximately 8 p.m. Monday when a motor vehicle collided with a pedestrian who was crossing Queen Street. The pedestrian, identified by police as 38-year-old Austin Kowalewski from Southington, suffered fatal injuries from the impact and died at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Police revealed that the black, midsized sedan was traveling southbound through the intersection of Queen Street and I-84 when it struck Kowalewski, who was crossing Queen Street just south of Laning Street.

Officers noted that the four occupants in the vehicle remained on the scene after the crash.
