Update: Route 66 in Columbia near Cards Mill Road has been reopened following a car accident early Monday morning. 

Original: Officials say Route 66 in Columbia has been closed due to a motor vehicle accident in the area. 

According to the Department of Transportation, Route 66 near Cards Mill Road has closed due to a car versus pole accident. 

No details have been given on the cause of the accident or injuries. 

News 8’s Alyssa Rae Taglia mentions Route 6 as a detour to the Route 66 closure.
