SEYMOUR, Conn. (WTNH) — Route 8 Southbound between Exits 22 and 20 was closed Saturday evening due to a motor vehicle rollover crash.
Connecticut State Police said the driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south on Route 8, around one mile south of Exit 22, when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons. The Jetta veered off the roadway, where it struck a metal fence and a utility pole. The vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on its hood on Cedar Street in Seymour.
The victim was transported to the hospital with what state police suspect to be serious injuries.
The roadway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
