Route 83 back open in Vernon after head-on crash


VERNON, Conn. (WTNH)– Route 83 is back open in Vernon after a head on car crash closed the roadway for hours Monday.

Around 11:15 a.m., police reported that all lanes of Route 83 near Merline Road were closed after a head-on collision.

Police tweeted that there were two patients involved in the crash. One was taken by ambulance to Rockville Hospital, while an elderly woman was taken by Life Star to Hartford Hospital.

The road was reopened to traffic at 1:40 p.m. after police conducted their initial investigation. If you witnessed this crash, or have any information that could help police in their investigation, you’re asked to call Vernon police at 860-872-9126.
