Rt 44 west in Avon closed as crews work to repair natural gas leak

AVON, Conn. (WTNH) — A section of Route 44 in Avon is closed Wednesday afternoon due to a gas leak, the state Department of Transportation reported.

The closure is on West Main Street between Darling Drive and Old Farms Road.

Avon Police Department reports they were called in at 1:30 p.m. for the gas leak.

Connecticut Natural gas is on scene and has turned off the gas while they work to repair the leak. No word yet on how long that will take.

No injuries or evacuations resulted from the leak.
