Police identify woman killed in crash on I-691 Eastbound in Southington

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — State police have identified the woman who was killed in a wrong-way crash in Southington on Wednesday evening.

State police said a tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound on I-691 in Southington near exit 4 around 5:17 p.m.

A car was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it struck the tractor-trailer head-on.

State police said the driver of the car, identified as 54-year-old Sharon Knight of Waterbury, was killed on the scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was brought to an area hospital for injuries.

The highway was closed for an extended period of time but has since reopened.

State police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information to contact them at 203-393-4200.
