The Connection: May is Foster Care Awareness Month

May is Foster Care Awareness month and Director of Family Support Services at The Connection Debra Borzellino explains the need for foster care in Connecticut.

The Connection is a statewide human services and community development agency that provides unique solutions to the problems of child welfare involvement, homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and community justice rehabilitation.

Annually, there are thousands of children in Connecticut in need of loving homes. They need families to open their hearts and homes to these children.

What are some of the benefits of becoming a foster parent?

  • Connecting Children and Families staff will support you around-the-clock with a dedicated team.
  • All parents need time off from parenting – our program supports family needs for self-care and well-being.
  • This rewarding experience not only makes a difference in a child’s life, it makes a difference in yours as well!

What is the partnership with NASCAR driver Joey Logano?

The Joey Logano Foundation’s mission includes collaborating with organizations like The Connection to offer second chances to children and young adults. Joey supports their public awareness campaign because he is passionate about giving back to his home state and he wants to inspire people to open their hearts and homes to children in need.
