(WTNH) — News 8 is honoring those who sacrifice so much to serve our country by highlight their stories in “Veteran Voices.”
The special is hosted by News 8’s Chief Meteorologist, and U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Gil Simmons.
Simmons served as a meteorologist and oceanographer; he attended Air Force Weather schools and deployed in four different Navy ships everywhere from the Pacific, Caribbean, to North of the Arctic Circe forecasting the weather.
In this special, you’ll meet Connecticut’s oldest Purple Heart recipient, Frank Bennett, who severed in WWII and the Korean War.
You’ll also learn about how service dogs are helping the hundreds of thousands of veterans who have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) since serving.
