Lady & Freedom from the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter

(WTNH)- Sometimes animals are waiting for you to bring them into your home and if you’re interested in adopting a pet, you can head to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford.

The Director of the animal shelter, Laura Selvaggio Burban and the program coordinator Chris Barbaro came to talk about two of their dogs that are up for adoption.

Lady is a boxer/bulldog mix and is between 8-10 years old. They said she is a total love bug but she came from an unfortunate situation.  She was being kept in a small room and was used to breed for puppies. When she could not perform any longer they didn’t want her. That’s when the shelter stepped in and rescued her. They said she would prefer to live without cats but like other dogs and of course kids!

Freedom is a male pit mix and was brought to the shelter in July of 2017. When he was brought to them, he was bleeding and appeared to have been used as a bait dog. His ears were severely damaged and at first the shelter was sure if they could save him but they performed surgery on him and were able to! It took months for Freedom to heal but he is doing amazing now and loves other dogs and likes cats.

If you are interested in adopting either of these dogs, you can call the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter at 203-315-4125.
