Police named John Egan, 58, a suspect in the hit-and-run that occurred last week near West Main Street and Highland Avenue. Members of Waterbury's Board of Alderman confirmed to News 8 that Egan was the city's zoning commission chairman. The city's website now shows that the seat is vacant.
"When we see a priest or anybody working for the diocese transferred quickly over a short period of time that's concerning and that's a red flag for us," said Mike McDonnell with the Survivor's Network of Those Abused by Priests. "Out of sight, out of mind. Let the dust settle."
